Vote for Amendments to Governing Documents

The Thousand Oaks Forest HOA Board is requesting homeowners’ approval on several amendments to the Declaration of Use Restrictions. This document protects homeowners by defining the use and care of properties within the Association. For example, our use restrictions describe how each homeowner is supposed to maintain their yards, the condition of the exterior of their homes, placement of garbage receptacles and so on.

By Sunday, March 27, each property owner will receive a copy of the amendments, a letter from the President and an explanation of the proposed amendments. Amending this document requires approval by 70% of the property owners. So, the board is encouraging all property owners to fully inform themselves.

Q&A Open House events are scheduled for Sunday, April 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the brook Hollow Library. Additional open houses at board members’ homes are scheduled as follows:
April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Bob Esquenazi, 14307 Markham Lane; April 9 at 4:30 p.m. at the home of Beverly Hernandez, 14302 Markham Glen and April 10, at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Kathleen Clark, 14310 Markham Lane.

For further details, please contact any board member. Deadline for voting on the amendments is April 30.

Halloween Party Planned for Oct 30

Boo! It's that time of year when ghosts and ghoulies big and small gather to haunt the neighborhood at our annual Halloween party. As has become custom, the festivities will take place at the cul-de-sac at Markham Woods and Markham Glen.
It all happens on Saturday, October 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dinner is a potluck with Bev and Jerry Hernandez expertly firing up their grill. As for the rest of us, if you live on Rockingham Circle or Markham Glen, bring a side dish. Markham Woods and Markham Lane residents bring a dessert.

RE-ZONING

On April 18th 2010, the HOA was made aware from our neighboring subdivision Preston Hollow that a PayDay Loan and pawn shop were presently being proposed to build directly across from our neighborhood (next to O'Reilly's Auto Parts). The HOA was concerned of what this would do to our property values. On April 20th, Sally Bolster, Kathy Clark and Lydia Anderson spoke on behalf of our subdivision at the Cliff Morton Business Building in opposition of this taking place....along with 13 other members of our surrounding neighborhoods.

Commissioner McFarlane denied PayDay Loans from being established! Thanks to all the valiant efforts in getting this accomplished!

We'd also like to thank Kara Spranger, Bob Esquenazi and Kathy Clark for acting so quickly in getting signatures for our petition.

GARAGE SALES

Garage sales will now only be held once a year to hold down our costs of getting permits. They will be held every October.
